Global attendance for IFMA and FMN conference in Amsterdam
The International Facility Management Association (IFMA) and Facility Management Nederland (FMN) joined forces to produce this year’s “World Workplace Europe meets Facility for Future” conference. The event took place from March 20 – 22, 2019 at the Kromhouthal in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. As many as 800 attendees participated in an innovative training program featuring keynotes, workshops and conversational sessions about collaboration.
This year’s conference was a resounding success for IFMA in Europe. Executives from over 40 countries worldwide gathered in Amsterdam to discuss the future of facility management. As a premiere for the business, IFMA chapters were consulted about their views on European laws. EMEA Advisory Board Chair Jos Duchamps commented: ‘For the first time in our history were asked by EU delegates to contribute to the new European legislation.’ Politicians and scientists inspired and triggered the participants during the “Inconvenient Conversations” to further develop measures against climate heating.
How to foster collaboration in the workplace?
The conference evolved around the theme of collaboration. Business Speaker of the Year Nigel Risner, collaborative relationship researcher Kate Vitasek, co-founder of property technology data company Unissu James Dearsley, and IT industry alum turned innovation consultant Nancy Rademaker all shared their research, insights and experience in workplace collaboration.
‘It’s a zoo out there! And the challenge is to identify the different “animals” within your team and have them collaborating.’ – Nigel Risner, author and keynote speaker.
Go behind the scenes at Heineken and Rijksmuseum
Unique behind-the-scenes facility tours at Edge Olympic, the Heineken Experience, De Nederlandse Bank and the historic Rijksmuseum offered conference attendees unique insights and allowed them to learn from each other’s best practices.
Improving member services
‘The interaction in the workshops and sessions was amazing. The atmosphere in the Kromhouthal was great; during the sessions, the breaks and at the FM party. Based on this success we will further improve the services for our members to increase the Facility Management profession in Europe,’ concluded IFMA Europe Director, Lara Paemen.
